If you know someone serving in our armed forces (a family member, a friend, a neighbor, or your neighbor's daughter or son) think about how much stress those daily military jobs cause her or him.
Some of our fighting personnel also have hours of idle time to deal with, often with very few activities available to occupy that time.
Do you take an hour or so at the end of a workday to wind down and clear your mind of all the stuff that happened on the job? Do you need to drain the stress from your body before you can enjoy some quality time with the family after working an eight, ten, or twelve-hour shift?
Think about that soldier who dodges bullets, and searches every inch of terrain ahead of him looking for explosive traps. How much stress does he experience compared to what you put up with?
Consider the sailor stuck on a ship sailing across the sea on its way to the next duty station. What can they do with their time when not on duty?
Remote control toys offer great distractions for our fighting men and women who need to occupy their minds, and drain the stress of strained vigilance they accumulate during their on-duty hours.
Thing is not all RC models adapt readily to a particular military members off-hour needs.
For those serving in Afghanistan or Iraq airplanes make unlikely choices. Their current base of operations might require that their rest and relaxation activities don't attract attention. A plane or helicopter in the sky above makes for visible evidence that someone is nearby. Since these countries are desert-like a boat is obviously not an ideal selection either.
For Army or Marine members in that situation the best radio control vehicles include cars, trucks, and construction equipment.
Your first logical thought in regards to a sailor is perhaps an RC boat. After all, he probably joined the Navy because of a love of water don't you think? Stop here for a moment though. When that sailor is at sea how accessible is the water to him? He can't operate that boat on a steel deck.
Ships have hallways though, and even most of the smaller destroyers have helicopter pads, which means plenty of space for remote control cars and trucks. Airplanes and helicopters work also, but if the sailor isn't an experienced pilot that aircraft may plunge into the sea - lost to Davy Jones.
What about Air Force members? They spend their off-duty time on solid ground, and normally on an air base, no matter where in the world they are at any given time. In fact, all branches of the military have bases located around the world.
For personnel stationed at a base, giving away their location doesn't become a concern. They have plenty of space for flying aircraft, operating cars and trucks, even for setting up construction site projects for their excavators, loaders, cranes, cement trucks, dump trucks, and semi-trucks for hauling materials to, and erecting buildings, towns, and cities.
They even have recreation buildings with swimming pools where they can race their speedboats and yachts, or take a leisurely cruise in their sailboat.
With all the different style radio control models available choosing one that makes the perfect relaxation toy for a stressed out military member is no problem. Just find the toy that suits his environment, and matches his personality.
If you know a member of our armed forces think about helping that person wind down from a hard days work. Send them a remote control toy to help them relieve their stress during their off duty hours.
